BREAKING NEWS: Due to a family emergency, Tony winner Steve Kazee has dropped out of the upcoming Broadway run Pretty Woman: The Musical.

However it has just been announced that 3 time Tony nominee and Olivier Award winner Andy Karl (ROCKY Broadway, On the 20th Century, and last seen in Groundhog Day Musical) will succeed Kazee in the role of the wealthy womanizing businessman “Edward Lewis” (the role made famous on screen by Richard Gere).

In addition to co-starring opposite acclaimed West End and film star Samantha Barks as the heart of gold prostitute “Vivian Ward” (the Julia Roberts. role), Karl will be sharing the stage once again with his real life wife Tony nominee Orfeh as the wisecracking roommate “Kit De Luca” (the Laura SanGiacomo role).

This is not the first time Karl and Orfeh shared the Broadway stage together. The first met in 2000 starring in the company of the stage musical adaptation of Saturday Night Fever. Most recently, they co-starred opposite each other as love interests in the musical adaptation of Legally Blonde.

Pretty Woman (based on the 1990 film of the same name) is set to begin performances at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre this summer. Previews begin July 20th, 2018 and Opening Night set for August 16th, 2018.
