BREAKING NEWS: This morning we just received the saddest news in Broadway history as we say SO LONG DEARIE to a legend. Carol Channing passed away yesterday at the age of 97 from Natural causes.

The Seattle, Washington born native is well known for her originating the iconic title role of everyone's favorite street-smart matchmaker "Dolly Levi Gallagher" in the original 1964 production of the iconic Jerry Herman musical Hello, Dolly on Broadway which she received a Tony Award for her performance. Some of her other Broadway credits including No For An Answer, Pygmalion, Wonderful Town, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (where she was well known for performing the musical's signature song DIAMOND'S A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND).

Channing's notable film roles include the original film version of Thoroughly Modern Millie which she was nominated for an Oscar and received the Golden Globe for her performance. Other projects includes Paid In Full, The First Traveling Saleslady, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Thumbelina.

RIP Carol Channing. We will miss you Dolly!!
