FLASHBACK FRIDAY: We at New York Broadway Tours are so excited for this Sunday’s highly anticipated live televised presentation of A Christmas Story, the Musical on FOX.

To get us in the mood, here is the cast of the Broadway production of A Christmas Story on the 2013 Tony Awards. This is Dan Lauria as “Jean Shepard (aka “Old Ralphie”), Caroline O’Connor as “Miss Shields”, Johnny Rabe as “Ralphie”, and the Ensemble kids performing a medley of RED RYDER CARBINE ACTION BB GUN and the toe tapping showstopper YOU’LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT.

Following an acclaimed run at The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, A CHRISTMAS STORY THE MUSICAL premiered on Broadway in 2012 at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre for a strictly limited holiday engagement of 66 performances. The show was nominated for only 3 Tony Awards in 2013 including Best Musical but lost all it’s categories. However, due to the original Broadway engagement did so well, it returned to NYC that same year of 2013 playing The Theater at Madison Square Garden (The Garden) for that same amount of performances. The musical continues to play in Regional Theatres across the country.

Be sure to tune in this Sunday night to A CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE on FOX at 7/6 Central.

FUN FACT: A CHRISTMAS STORY Original Broadway cast members Caroline O’Conner (Miss Shields) and also not in the performance John Bolton (who originated the role of “The Old Man” – aka Mr. Parker”) would later reunite and are currently co-starring opposite each other making out 8 times a week as “Lily” and “Vlad” in Anastasia The Musical.
