Get ready to take A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION as Disney is gearing up to bring it’s beloved film 1971 musical film BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS to the stage next Spring 2019.

The show is set to have it’s official world premiere in Chicago at Chicago Shakespeare Theater from May 30th ? July 28th, 2019.

BEDKNOBS & BROOMSTICKS (originally based on a novel by Mary Norton) is set during The Blitz of World War II in the year 1941 following 3 cockney orphaned children who evacuate London to go live in Pepperinge Eye under the care of Eglantine Price (a witch in training with inexperienced flying), who takes them on a fantastical adventure all by turning a bedknob.

Under the direction and choreography by Rachel Rockwell, the musical will feature a book by Brian Hill, new songs by Neil Bartram as well as the beloved songs we all grew up with from the original film including WITH A FLAIR, SUBSTITUARY LOCOMOTION, THE BEAUTIFUL BRINY SEA, and the Oscar nominated song THE AGE OF NOT BELIEVING.
