WHAT’S THE BUZZ?: Grammy and Tony nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles has been tapped to star in NBC’s upcoming live Spring Musical concert presentation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar as “Mary Magdalene” which she will sing the musical’s signature song I DON’T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM.
The Waitress the Musical composer and soon to be returning leading lady joins the previously announced Grammy winner John Legend as the title role and legendary rock star Alice Cooper as “King Herrod”.
Additional casting will be announced soon.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be NBC’s 5th live televised musical and their first live production airing in the spring. It’s set to go live on the air on April 1st, 2018 (Easter Psalm Sunday). This live concert production will be filmed in front of large audience at the Marcy Armory in Brooklyn.
