BREAKING NEWS: Everyone’s favorite Drag HOUSEKEEPER is coming to the Great White Way. Yup, a musical adaptation of the Golden Globe Award winning comedy film Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works.

MRS. DOUBTFIRE THE MUSICAL will feature a book and score by the Tony nominated geniuses behind Something Rotten The Musical consisting of Karey Kirkpatrick, Wayne Kirkpatrick, and John O’Farrell. The show will be directed by Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (A Bronx Tale The Musical and most recent revival of Hello, Dolly on Broadway).

The show was initially supposed to hit Broadway back in 2015 with a score originally done by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken and Alan Zippel along with a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein (who also appeared in the original 1993 film). However, it did not work.

MRS. DOUBTFIRE tells the hilarious story of a freelance actor (also a loving and caring father) who goes through a messy divorce following a disastrous birthday party. To still become a Father to his children, the man disguises as a female housekeeper to still have his moments with them. The original film starred the late Robin Williams, Oscar winner Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, and Broadway’s very own Harvey Fierstein.
