DELIVER US! For these past few years, a musical adaptation of The Academy Award winning animated film The Prince Of Egypt has been in development for the stage. It has just been announced that a private industrial reading of updated rewrites of the Broadway bound musical is expecting to happen in London this week. It also comes at an exciting timing with the film's recent 20th Anniversary.
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT is a musical retelling of The 10 Commandments. It tells the biblical story of "Moses", an adopted Egyptian prince who becomes the deliverer of his real brethren, the enslaved Hebrews, and therefore leads the Exodus to Mount Sinai, where he receives, from God, the Ten Commandments. It features an original score by the Tony, Grammy, and Oscar winning composer of WICKED The Musical, Pippin the Musical, Godspell, Pocahontas, and others himself…. Stephen Schwartz. The musical will feature the beloved songs from the film including DELIEVER US, THROUGH HEAVENS EYES, PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS, & the Oscar winning WHEN YOU BELIEVE.
The musical originally had its World Premiere in San Francisco, California at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts back in the Fall of 2017, It also played a production at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre and Center for the Arts in Ivins, Utah and most recently an engagement at the Fredericia Teater in Denmark. We are all hoping for full scale productions of THE PRINCE OF EGYPT to hit both Broadway and London's West End soon.
