BREAKING NEWS: It has been announced that The 65th Annual Drama Desk Awards will still be happening this year as scheduled. However sadly due to the world being abruptly shut down and in Quarantine during this time of the COVID-19 crisis, the year's ceremony will NOT be held this year's at it's usual annual home at New York's Town Hall. Instead, the Drama Desks will be done as a VIRTUAL ONLINE ceremony. The plan is as following….

The cutoff date to be eligible has now been March 11th, 2020 (instead of April 23rd, 2020 due to the abrupt shutdown of all the Theaters and shows).

The announcement of the nominations will be revealed on April 21st, 2020

and the actual VIRTUAL CEROMONY will be held on May 31st, 2020.

The Drama Desk Awards are considered as the Golden Globes for Theatre honoring the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway artists. They are voted for each year by theater critics, journalists, editors, and publishers that cover New York theater news. It's held traditionally on the Sunday 1 WEEK before the Tony Awards every year.
