BREAKING NEWS: There’s a new band leader on Broadway. Obie Award winner Dariush Kashani (last seen in the Tony winning play Oslo on Broadway) will temporary be taking over the lead role of “Tewfiq, the band leader” in the smash hit The Band’s Visit starting tonight at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Original star Tony Shaloub will be taking a leave of absence from the show to shoot the second season of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He will return in May 2018.
In addition beginning May 2018, the role of “Tewfiq” will be alternated by both Shaloub and Kashani.
We will miss you Tony and break a leg with filming. Can’t wait to have you back.
