VOULUEZ-VOUS COUCHER AVEC MOI? As previously announced, the Award winning smash hit Baz Luhrmann musical film Moulin Rouge is heading to the stage. The official dates have been confirmed of it’s world premiere this summer 2018.

MOULIN ROUGE will have it’s world premiere tryout in Boston reopening the historical Emerson Colonial Theatre. Previews begin June 27th, Opening Night set for July 22nd, 2018, and will run through August 5th, 2018.

The show recently did a Fall lab workshop of the show featuring Tony Award winner Karen Olivo as “Santine” (The Nicole Kidman role) and Broadway heartthrob Aaron Tviet as “Christian” (The Ewan McGregor role).

No word on casting has been made and/or if both Olivo and Tviet will continue with the show in it’s world premiere production.

The creative team of MOULIN ROUGE on stage will include direction by Tony nominee Alex Timbers, choreography by Emmy nominee Sonya Tayeh, a book by Tony winner John Logan, sets by Tony winner Derek McLane, costumes by Tony winner Catherine Zuber, lighting by Tony nominee Justin Townsend, sound by Tony nominee Peter Hylenski,
and wigs designed by Drama Desk-winner David Brian Brown.

MOULIN ROUGE tells the beautiful, romantic, and dramatic story of a young poet who is inspired by the Bohemian lifestyle in Paris who ends up at the famous Le Moulin Rouge (Officiel) (the most famous cabaret venue in Paris filled with sex, drugs, electricity and the Can-Can) and falls in love with the club’s headliner. The musical also features a mix of the many songs we know today in these past 50 years from the worlds of Pop, Rock, Opera, Jazz, and Theatre.
