DID YOU KNOW: In the West End production of Les Miserables – Musical (playing at the Queens Theatre in London), the scream that the character of “Eponine” lets out during THE ATTACK OF RUE PLUMMET (when she attempts to stop her father “Thernadier” and his gangs of thieves from robbing the house of “Jean Vailjean) in Act 1 is pre-recorded.

The woman’s scream that is still heard 8 times a week there in London in acclaimed West End performer Linzi Hateley who played the role in the late 80’s (when the West End production was at playing at the Palace Theatre in London at the time).

Hately replaced the original “Eponine” herself Frances Ruffelle when she departed the London cast to originate the role in the original New York (Broadway) production which she won the Tony Award. She later went back to the show in 2012 to take on the role of her role’s mother “Madame Thernadier”.

In addition, most people know Hately for originating the title role in the original Stratford-Upon-Avon and Broadway productions of Carrie The Musical which flopped after 16 performances but her performance got positive reviews.
