FIRST LOOK: Get a look at scenes from the upcoming Broadway bound musical Gettin’ The Band Back Together during it’s initial world premiere run at New Jersey’s George Street Playhouse back in 2013.
The show will jam it’s way into Broadway’s Belasco Theatre this Summer 2018. Previews will begin on July 19th, 2018 and opening night set for August 13th, 2018.
GETTIN’ THE BAND BACK TOGETHER is a new original musical comedy about “Mitch Shapiro”, who gets fired from his job on Wall Street on his 40th Birthday and moves back to his mother?s Sayreville, NJ home. While unemployed, he reconnects with some of old friends he formed a band with in High School called Juggernaut and enter a Battle of the Bands competition.
The show will be produced and feature a book by Ken Davenport (the currently acclaimed revival Once On This Island Broadway, Kinky Boots on Broadway, Deaf West Theatre’s revival of Spring Awakening Broadway, and Daddy Long Legs The Musical) and rock band Grundleshotz,
an original score by Mark Allen and Grundleshotz member Sarah Saltzberg,
choreography by Tony nominee Kelly Devine (Escape to Margaritaville: The Musical, Come From Away, Rock of Ages),
and direction by Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown and the recent revival of On The Town – The Musical Comedy Classic).
