HOSANNA!! Grammy Award winner John Legend has been tapped to star in the title role for NBC’s upcoming live televised production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar this Spring 2018.
Legend joins the previously announced legendary rock star Alice Cooper as “King Herrod”. Additional casting will be announced soon.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be NBC’s 5th live televised musical and their first live production airing in the spring. It’s set to go live on the air on April 1st, 2018 (Easter Psalm Sunday).
In addition, it was also announced that the production will be filmed as a live concert in front of large audience at the Marcy Armory which is located in Williamsburg (right in Brooklyn).
