BREAKING NEWS: As previously announced Michael Luwoye is set to rejoin the Broadway company of Hamilton: An American Musical taking over the title role fulltime. His start date has been officially set for January 16th, 2018 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
Luwoye made history with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Award winning smash hit as the first African American actor to play the title role of “Alexander Hamilton” (aka THE 10 DOLLAR FOUNDING FATHER). He initially served as the alternate here on Broadway alongside to the show’s current Broadway leading man Javier Mu?oz and earned rave reviews. He then went on to originate the role on the show’s National Tour (where he will continue his run with the show there through the end of it’s LA engagement on December 30th, 2017).
No word on who is replacing Luwoye on the National Tour.
For the show’s current Broadway leading man Javier Mu?oz, he took to Facebook to announce his final performance as “Alexander Hamilton” on Broadway is set for January 14th, 2018. He will be missed.
Who is excited?
Just you wait. As we say farewell to original cast member Javier Mu?oz, we welcome Michael Luwoye back to #HamiltonBway as A. Ham!
