BREAKING NEWS: Broadway is making its way back this Fall. Not only we have the popular classics, we got some new promising exciting shows coming as well. The latest is Douglas Lyons’ new feel good comedy CHICKEN & BUSCUITS. Originally set to debut Off Broadway in 2020, it will now make its way ON Broadway playing the Circle in the Square Theatre this Fall. Previews are set to begin September 23rd, 2021 and will officially open on October 10th, 2021.
Under the direction of Zhailon Levingston, the cast will be led by….
Tony Award nominee and Broadway favorite Norm Lewis (Les Miserables, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, The Little Mermaid, The Phantom of the Opera, and last seen on Broadway ironically at Circle in the Square in Once On This Island) in his FIRST ever straight play / non musical role on Broadway
and
Emmy nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Michael Urie (Broadway’s How To Succeed, Off Broadway’s Buyer & Cellar, and TV’s Ugly Betty).
In case anyone may not know, CHICKEN & BISCUITS is a raucous family comedy centering on The Jenkins, a dysfunctional family coming together celebrating the life of their father without killing anyone. However everything changes when the Grandson invites his boyfriend into the picture.
With CHICKEN & BISCUITS going into Circle in the Square Theatre, it also means that the Broadway revival of American Buffalo sadly been postponed. No word has been said if the production will be pushed for the Spring with CHICKEN & BISCUITS being a limited run.
Who is excited?!!!
