BREAKING NEWS: Quentin Earl Darrington is set to return to the acclaimed revival of Once On This Island Broadway beginning March 16th, 2018 at Circle in the Square Theatre. The Broadway veteran who plays “Agwe: The God of Water” went on a contractual leave of absence from the show earlier this January.

During that time of Darrington’s absence, the role was being performed by Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis, who took his final bow this afternoon.

Between now and Darrington’s March 16th return, the role of “Agwe” will be alternated by understudies T. Oliver Reid and David Jennings.

In addition to Darrington, original cast member Merle Dandridge who plays the wicked “Papa Ge: The Demon of Death” is also currently on a leave of absence from ONCE ON THIS ISLAND filming the 3rd season of her TV show Greenleaf OWN. At the moment, the role is being played by American Idol’s Tamyra Gray. No word has been announced when Dandridge is set to return.
