Tonight, Sara Bareilles finally makes her long awaited Broadway acting debut in the show she made her songwriting debut, the Tony and Grammy nominated smash hit Waitress the Musical as she takes over the lead role of pregnant pie maker “Jenna”. Bareilles takes over from original leading lady Tony winner Jessie Mueller (who played her final performance this past Sunday). For the last 3 days, the role was played by Stephanie Torns (who returns into her usual Ensemble track tonight).

Joining the 6 time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter and WAITRESS’ composser at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre will be Broadway veteran Chris Diamantopoulos who takes over the male leading role of the sexy gynecologist in town himself “Dr. Pomatter”. He replaces original cast member Drew Gehling who played his final performance last night before taking over to start rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway bound Roman Holiday.

In addition, Tony nominee Will Swenson will also join the cast tonight taking over the role of the physically and sexually abusive alcoholic husband “Earl”. He replaces William Popp in the role who also played his final performance last night.
