BREAKING NEWS: A musical adaptation of the acclaimed film Mr. Holland’s Opus is in the works. The musical will feature a score and book by Award winning Broadway veterans BD Wong and Wayne Barker. Wong will also direct the production. It will first be experimented as a workshop reading presentation by a cast of students from the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre program.

The workshop readings of MR. HOLLAND’S OPUS is expecting to be performed December 2017 at the Don Powell Theatre.

MR. HOLLAND’S OPUS (which came out in 1995 starring Richard Dreyfuss in the title role) tells the story of Glenn Holland, a struggling and aspiring composer who takes a job as a High School Music teacher. Along the way, he gets inspiration and changes the lives of many students through great and difficult times.

Who is excited? Will is possibly hit Broadway in the near future?!

SDSU Musical Theatre students will have the opportunity of a lifetime to be on the ground floor as a new musical by award-winning Broadway, film and television actor BD Wong and Broadway veteran Wayne Barker is born.
