BREAKING NEWS: The Tony nominated smash hit The Great Comet has some crazy cast changes for the show’s leading man.
Okieriete Onaodowan (known as the original “Hercules Mulligan” from Hamilton: An American Musical) will begin his run as the new “Pierre” a week later starting July 11th, 2017 at the Imperial Theatre. He was supposed to begin his run on July 3rd, 2017.
The show’s Tony nominated composer and original Off Broadway leading man dave malloy (who played a limited 12 performances spread out these last few months) will return for an ENCORE run as “Pierre” from July 3rd through the 9th, 2017. Malloy will start the same day as acclaimed singer / songwriter Ingrid Michaelson who will start performances for 5 weeks temporary filling in for Brittain Ashford as “Sonya”.
As previously announced, the show’s current original Broadway leading man Grammy and Tony nominee Josh Groban will play his final performance this Sunday at the Imperial Theatre.

BREAKING NEWS: The legendary Gershwin musical classic Crazy For You is officially heading back to Broadway next year in the continuation celebration of the show’s 25th Anniversary of it’s Broadway debut. For this revival, Susan Stroman will recreate her legendary staging (which she won her 1st of 5 Tony Awards for the show’s original Broadway production).
Before it heads back to the Great White Way, the show will have a Pre-Broadway out of town tryout in Los Angeles, California at the Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre next year from February 7th, 2018 through March 18th, 2018
CRAZY FOR YOU is an updated version of the Gershwin’s acclaimed 1930 musical GIRL CRAZY. It’s a romantic-comedy telling the story of a banker with dreams of being in show business, falls in Love with the local postmistress, and ends up putting on a show to save a Theater from closing. The musical features some of the most beloved Gershwin songs ever written for the stage including EMBRACABLE YOU, SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME, I GOT RHYTHM, & much more.
The show originally premiered on Broadway in 1992 at the Shubert Theatre where it ran for an incredible 1,622 performances. The musical starred Tony nominees Harry Groener (who most people now know as “Mayor Wilkins” from Buffy The Vampire Slayer) as “Bobby Child” and Jodi Benson (who most people now know worldwide at the voice of “Ariel” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid) as “Polly Baker”. The show went on to be nominated for 9 Tony Awards that year winning 3 including Best Musical.
Following it’s original Broadway run, CRAZY FOR YOU went on to become a smash hit worldwide including London’s West End, a filmed performance in 1999 at Paper Mill Playhouse (that aired on PBS) which went on to be nominated for an Emmy, and much more.
Most recently, CRAZY FOR YOU celebrated it’s 25th Anniversary with a concert presentation featuring an all star cast produced by Manhattan Concert Productions (MCP). It was led by Tony nominees Tony Yazbeck as “Bobby Child” and Laura Osnes as “Polly Baker”.
No word has been announced on the dates or what Theater this new revival of CRAZY FOR YOU will play at when it officially hits NYC.
