Lea Salonga to Play Final Performance in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND on June 24; Darlesia Cearcy to Take Ove…

BREAKING NEWS: Tony Award winner Lea Salonga to depart this year’s 8 time Tony nominated revival of Once On This Island Broadway next month. The acclaimed performer is set to take her final bow on June 24th, 2018 at the Circle in the Square Theatre.

In addition, it has also been announced that Ensemble member and Salonga’s understudy Darlesia Cearcy (Shuffle Along on Broadway, The Book of Mormon on Broadway, along with the original productions of The Color Purple Musical and Ragtime the Musical) will take over the role of “Erzulie: The Goddess of Love” fulltime beginning June 25th, 2018.

We will miss Lea! What an incredible talent and a true ultimate goddess of love.

Congratulations to Darlesia on getting moved up from understudy to full time principal. Cannot wait to see you light up the stage with that beautiful crown.

The producers of Broadway’s Once On This Island announced today that Lea Salonga will play her final performance in the show on June 24. Current cast member Darlesia Cearcy will take over the role of Erzulie on June 25.

Stephanie Torns to Lead WAITRESS Following Bareilles’s Exit; McPhee Scheduled Thru June 17

BREAKING NEWS: Waitress the Musical Ensemble member Stephanie Torns (also a former “Elphaba” in WICKED The Musical on Broadway and on Tour) will take on the lead role of pregnant pie maker “Jenna” for a 1 month stint starting this Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 through April 8th, 2018.

Torns (who has been with the show since the very beginning appearing in the Ensemble and understudying the role of “Jenna”) takes over from the show’s composer and current leading lady Sara Bareilles who plays her final performance tomorrow, March 11th, 2018 and right before American Idol and Smash favorite Katherine McPhee begins her limited engagement in the Tony and Grammy winning musical starting April 10th, 2018.

How amazing is it to go from appearing in the Ensemble and now getting to be the leading lady 8 times a week.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Stephanie Torns, the current Jenna understudy, will take over the leading role on March 13th following the exit of Sara Bareilles. Torns will star until Katharine McPhee takes over on April 10th.

Off-Broadway’s THE FANTASTICKS to Close this June


TRY TO REMEMBER! The legendary acclaimed revival of the iconic musical comedy The Fantasticks On Broadway is officially set to close June 4th, 2017 at the Jerry Orbach Theatre (part of The Theater Center).

At the time of the closing of this revival, THE FANTATICKS will have played a total of 21,552 performances here in NYC. That is 17,162 performances at Sullivan Street Playhouses and 4390 performances at the Jerry Orbach Theatre.

The production closes to make room for the new Off Broadway play THE CRUSADE OF CONNORSTEPHENS which begins previews June 17th.

‘1984’ Will Open at the Hudson this June | The Hudson Theatre Broadway


BREAKING NEWS: Following the limited engagement of the Semi-staged revival of Sunday in the Park with George Broadway, Broadway’s 41st and newly renovated Hudson Theatre has already announced it’s next show…..

Following an acclaimed run in London, UK producer Sonia Friedman and US producer Scott Rudin will present a new adaptation of George Orwell’s chilling novel 1984 for the stage. The play was written by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan and developed by a Theater company called Headlong.

1984 tells the story of a group of historians as they discover a diary of Winston Smith and must determine whether it is fictional or true.

The show will begin performances on June 22th, 2017. The official schedule, ticket information, and the full cast will announced soon.
