Introducing THE UPTOWN BOYS!!!
Live Theater is making its way back to the NEW YORK STATE OF MIND. Along the way, some of your favorite Broadway performers are bringing their act to a whole new direction. One of them is a toe-tapping new music act created during the COVID-19 pandemic entitled The Uptown Boys. This new group is a cover trio act of 3 Broadway stars performing the hits of the PIANO MAN himself….. Billy Joel.
The Uptown Boys consist of…
Austin Colby (The National Tours of Jersey Boys and most recently Disney’s Frozen),
Keith White (Broadway’s A Bronx Tale),
and
The group was first concieved by John De Simini (Musician in the pits of A Bronx Tale, Jersey Boys, and so much more), Alex Aguilar (Broadway’s Miss Saigon), and Skye Scott (The National Tour of Jersey Boys). After previously working together on the Great Bright Way, the trio collaborated on a project to bring that magic of Broadway to the people. With figuring out the perfect catalog, they knew immediately that perfect artist that truly celebrates the Big Apple….. Billy Joel. The staging of The Uptown Boys is a unique combination of that classic Motown / Doo-Wop vibe but still paying tribute to what everyone knows about Billy Joel (who is no stranger to having his work produced on the Great Bright Way back in 2002 with the Award winning smash hit musical MOVIN’ OUT).
This group is continuing the legacy with Broadway stars putting cover groups including The Midtown Men (featuring 4 of Jersey Boys Original Broadway Cast performing not only songs from Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons but the best of the 1960’s).
A few weeks ago, THE UPTOWN BOYS made their triumphant world premiere debut concert at The Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH. With Live Theater back, the show received a full standing ovation. The audiences walked out happy & singing along with all the hits of Billy Joel.
The group is expecting to tour more later this Summer. Their next stop will be a 2 night engagement in Michigan City, IN this August.
