BREAKING NEWS: Casting has been announced for the highly anticipated Broadway debut of Lynn Nottage’s new play CLYDE’S coming this Fall. Leading the company as a group of workers in a truck-stop sandwich shop will consist of…..
Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba (TV’s Orange Is the New Black along with Broadway’s Coram Boy and the recent revival of Godspell),
Emmy Award winner Ron Cephas Jones (TV’s This Is Us along with Broadway’s Gem of the Ocean, The Motherf**ker with the Hat, and last seen in the revent revival of Of Mice and Men),
Lucille Lortel Award nominee Kara Young (Off Broadway’s All The Natalie Portmans) in her On Broadway debut,
and
Reza Salazar (no stranger working with Lynn Notage in the Broadway debut of SWEAT and appeared in the original 2019 premiere of this play).
The play will be a 5 person cast. The last remaining cast member will be announced soon.
For those who may not know, CLYDE’S tells the story of a incarcerated kitchen staff of a truck-stop sandwich shop. One day, they are offered a chance at reclaiming their lives. Along the way, the staff is given permission and the chance to dream of that possibility of the perfect delicious sandwich.
The play originally had its world premiere debut in 2019 as FLOYD’S at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN.
Under the direction of Kate Whoriskey, CLYDE’S will have a delicious Broadway debut at the Hayes at Second Stage Theater. Previews begin November 3rd, 2021 and the Opening Night is set for November 22nd, 2021. It will run for a strictly limited engagement through January 16th, 2022.

BREAKING NEWS: Tony Award winner LaChanze (Broadway’s original Once On This Island and The Color Purple along with Summer and last seen in A Christmas Carol) is set to return to the Great Bright Way this Fall as the star of Roundabout Theatre Company‘s upcoming production and the Broadway debut of Alice Childress‘ play TROUBLE IN MIND this Fall.
Under the direction of y Charles Randolph-Wright. TROUBLE IN MIND is set to begin previews on October 29th, 2021 and officially open on November 18th, 2021 at the American Airlines Theatre. It will run for a strictly limited engagement through January 9th, 2022.
In case anyone may not know, this play centers on an experienced black actress going through the experience of a Broadway rehearsal. It deals with themes of racism, identity, and ego in the New York theatre scene.
The play originally debuted Off Broadway in 1955. It originally was slated to go to Broadway in 1957. However, it never happened due to the forefront of both the Civil Rights and feminist movements.
Most recently during the COVID-19 pandemic, Roundabout did 2 virtual development lab productions. They also had did an online reading of another one of Alice Childress’ plays WINE IN THE WILDERNESS as part of the company’s multi-year The Refocus Project, presented in association with Black Theatre United (which LaChanze herself is a founding member) spotlighting 20th century Black plays and their playwrights.

Broadway Musical adaptation of THE KARATE KID in the works!!!

BREAKING NEWS: A new musical adaptation of the acclaimed martial arts film The Karate Kid is heading for the Great Bright Way!!! According to an Actors’ Equity Association casting notice, the production will have a World Premiere Out-Of-Town tryout Spring of 2022. No word though has been said where or when the Pre-Broadway tryout run will be or exactly when its coming to the Big Apple.
In case anyone may not know or have forgotten, THE KARATE KID is based on the 1984 Columbia film of the same name. Set in Newark, New Jersey, the story follows a young teenager who is taught how to defend himself against the school bullies by an eccentric, but kind and humble Okinawan karate instructor. The original film was a huge smash, it become an acclaimed franchise with several sequels, a remake, and a TV series.
This new musical will feature….
a book by the film’s screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen,
an original score by Drew Gasparini,
a set design by Tony and Emmy winner Derek McLane.
directed by Amon Miyamoto,
and
choreographed by MTV Video Music Awards nominees Keone & Mari.

BREAKING NEWS: Live Theater is making its triumphant comeback here in the Big Apple this year. The Award winning Second Stage Theater has officially announced the start dates / times of all its productions coming for the 2021-2022 season. Several shows that were part initially of the abruptly cut short 2019-2020 season (thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic) has been rescheduled along with some new shows. The lineup will be as follows….
ON Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre
Lynn Nottage’s new delicious play CLYDES – Under the direction of Kate Whoriskey, the show will begin previews are set for November 3rd, 2021 and the official Opening Night set for November 22nd, 2021.

The highly anticipated Broadway revival of Richard Greenberg’s Tony winning baseball play TAKE ME OUT (starring Jesse Williams and Jesse Tyler Ferguson) – Under the direction of Scott Ellis, previews will begin on March 9th, 2022 and Opening Night set for April 4th, 2022.
Details for the launch of Stephen Adly Guirgis’s new madcap play BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY will be revealed at a later time. Under the direction of Austin Pendleton, it is scheduled to debut in the Fall of 2022.

Rajiv Joseph’s mysterious new play LETTERS OF SURESH – Under the direction of May Adrales, previews will begin September 14th, 2021 and the Opening Night is set for Monday, October 4, 2021.

JC Lee’s new comedy TO MY GIRLS – Under the direction of Stephen Brackett, previews will begin March 22nd, 2022 and Opening Night for officially April 14th, 2022.
Meanwhile for the new Off Broadway musical adaptation of Jodi Picoult and daughter Samantha Van Leer’s best selling novel Between the Lines, the production has been postponed till further notice. Stay tuned for details when the show will finally make its long awaited debut.

Broderick and Parker led revival of PLAZA SUITE reschedules Broadway run for Spring 2022!!!

BREAKING NEWS: New York City is starting to wake up and its slowly & surely to check into one of the most fanciest hotels of them all….. Plaza Suite. It has just been announced that highly anticipated revival of Neil Simon’s acclaimed comedy (led by husband and wife Award winning duo Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker) will finally hit the Great Bright Way next year.
Under the direction of John Benjamin, the production is now set to begin previews on February 25th, 2022 and have its official night set on March 28th, 2022 at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre. It will run for a strictly limited engagement.
This new production originally had an out-of-town tryout in Boston, MA at the Emerson Colonial Theatre back in February of last year. It was initially slated to begin in the Spring of 2020 but got shutdown 1 day before it was supposed to debut due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing Broadway to shutdown. It was also originally pushed to this past Spring of 2021…. however delayed again due to the ongoing shutdown. By the time the show finally begins, it will open exactly 2 years since it was slated to debut.
Tickets are on sale now!! All those who held tickets for performances initially set for March 2020 and its pushed to March 2021 engagement, they will have the ability to exchange their tickets for a new performance by contacting the original point of sale.
So excited to finally experience this classic Neil Simon comedy back on Broadway!!
