NBC’s morning news / talk show The Today Show is continuing its BROADWAY WEEK all week long. This lineup for BROADWAY WEEK features performances by the casts of some of this year’s shows nominated for the Tony Awards this year.
This early morning, the cast of the current 8 time Tony nominated revival of Once On This Island Broadway took center stage outside of Studio 1A in Rockefeller Center. Check out the cast (performing the musical’s showstopper MAMA WILL PROVIDE.

The Tony Nominated Broadway revival of Once On This Island, opened on December 3 at The Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) to rave reviews. The new production is directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden, and choreographed by the critically-acclaimed Camille A. Brown.

Last night, Glee favorite Alex Newell, newcomer Hailey Kilgore, and the company of the acclaimed revival of Once On This Island Broadway made a stop to NBC Studio 8G to perform the musical’s showstopper MAMA WILL PROVIDE on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Tony Award winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon US and recently in Allegiance – A New Musical) returns to Broadway in this production as “Erzulie” (the Goddess of Love),
Alex Newell (known for playing “Unique” on Glee) will make his Broadway Debut as “Asaka” (the Mother of the Earth),
Quentin Earl Darrington (currently playing “Old Dueteronomy in the revival of Cats the Musical) as “Agwe” (The God Of Water),
and
Merle Dandridge Johnston (Broadway’s Rent and Tarzan) as “Papa Ge” (the Demon of Death).
Salonga, Newell, Darrington, and Dandridge will join the previously announced…
Tony nominee Phillip Boykin-The Boy Can Entertain (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess on Broadway and On The Town – The Musical Comedy Classic) as “Tonton Julian”,
Alysha Deslorieux (Hamilton: An American Musical) as “Andrea”,
Kenita R. Miller (Off Broadway’s The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin) as “Mama Euralie”
newcomer Isaac Powell as the love interest “Daniel”
and a full Ensemble.

The new revival of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND will begin previews on November 9th, 2017 and open on December 3rd, 2017 at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre.
