Noah Galvin’s EVAN HANSEN Departure Date Announced; Taylor Trensch To Assume Role 2/6

BREAKING NEWS: Taylor Trensch’s start date as the new star of this year’s Tony winning smash hit Dear Evan Hansen has officially confirmed. The Broadway favorite will begin donning the striped polo and arm cast at the Music Box Theatre beginning February 6th, 2018.

The show’s current leading man The Real O’Neals star Noah Galvin will end his strictly limited engagement with the Pasek and Paul musical on February 4th, 2018.

Trench is currently starring in this year’s Tony winning revival of Hello, Dolly on Broadway which he is set to take his final bow with original stars Tony winners The Divine Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce on January 14th, 2018 at the Shubert Theatre. Taking over for Trench in HELLO, DOLLY as “Barnaby Tucker” will be West End star Charlie Stemp who is joining alongside Tony winner Bernadette Peters and Tony nominee Victor Garber starting January 20th, 2018.

With Trench joining as the title role in DEAR EVAN HANSEN, he will join the lineup of the show’s current original stars. As previously announced, Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones (“Heidi Hansen”), Glee favorite Laura Dreyfuss (“Zoe Murphy”), Tony nominees Mike Faist (“Connor Murphy”) and Jennifer Laura Thompson (“Cynthia Murphy”) along with Michael Parks (“Larry Murphy”), and Will Roland (“Jared Kleinman”) are all set to depart the show May 2018. Kristolyn Lloyd (“Alana Beck”) is set to depart in February 2018.

BroadwayWorld has learned that currently HELLO, DOLLY! star Taylor Trensch will assume the role of Evan Hansen in DEAR EVAN HANSEN beginning February 6th, 2017.

First Look! See Noah Galvin Step Into Character in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen

Get a first look of The Real O’Neals star Noah Galvin in costume as he gears up to take over the titular role in this year’s Tony winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen starting tomorrow night at the Music Box Theatre. He will stay with the production for a strictly limited engagement through early January 2018 before Taylor Trensch will take over from there.

Galvin replaces the show’s original leading man Ben Platt who played his final performance yesterday.

Ben Platt Passes Dear Evan Hansen Torch to Noah Galvin & Taylor Trensch with Ultimate Dance Video


PASSING OF THE CAST: Check out Dear Evan Hansen’s Tony winning original star Ben Platt along with the show’s upcoming new leading men Noah Galvin and Taylor Trensch as they teamed up for a Music Video putting on their best 70’s attire and dancing to Earth, Wind & Fire’s GETAWAY.

As previously mentioned, Ben Platt is set to write one final therapeutic letter when he takes his final bow in the Tony winning Best Musical on November 19th, 2017 at the Music Theatre.

Following Platt’s departure, Noah Galvin will begin his strictly limited engagement donning the blue striped shirt, cackies, and arm cast from November 21st, 2017 through January 2018.

From there, Taylor Trensch (set to depart the Tony winning revival of Hello, Dolly on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on January 14th, 2018) will begin his run fulltime as the “Evan Hansen” mid-January 2018. No official date has been confirmed when is Trensch’s exact first night at the Music Box Theatre.

Galvin and Trensch will be co-starring along with the show’s still running original cast members who have all extended their contracts through 2018.

Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones, (“Heidi”), Glee favorite Laura Dreyfuss (“Zoe”), Tony nominee Mike Faist (“Connor”), Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson (“Cynthia”), Michael Parks (“Larry”), and Will Roland (“Jared”) will depart the show May 2018 while Kristolyn Lloyd (“Alana”) will stay through February 2018.
