The 2017-2018 Broadway season is almost over. You know what that means?!! The 72nd Annual Tony Awards is almost here. With that in mind, we at New York Broadway Tours want to remind everyone about the schedule of events coming up leading to Broadway’s biggest night of the year. It is as follows…
APRIL 26TH, 2018: The official cut off date for shows to open on Broadway and be considered to get nominated. We have some great Plays and Musicals are getting their Opening Nights in this Spring.
MAY 1ST, 2018: The announcement of this year’s nominees!!! The revealing will be done that morning this year at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. In addition, the Tony Nominations announcement will be livestreamed on Facebook as well as appear on several news stations. Stay tune these next few weeks when we find out who will be the 2 presenters announcing those lucky names.
NYBT BONUS: Also, that very same day of the revealing of the nominees, we at New York Broadway Tours will be presenting our annual Countdown To The Tony Awards shenanigans here on social media. Usually, we do a TOP 30 Countdown of the best performances from the past telecasts posted each morning on our Social media pages leading up to Tony night. This time, we wanted to make room for more performances. Because this date will mark 40 DAYS to Broadway’s biggest night, it’s now NEW YORK BROADWAY TOURS TOP 40 TONY AWARDS COUNTDOWN!!! Get ready to wake up to some of the best performances from the past telecasts by us.
MAY 2ND, 2018: The day after the lucky Broadway stars and creators celebrate with screams scream and freak out over being nominated, they will then head to a special meet n’ greet with the press at the Sofitel New York Hotel.
MAY 22ND, 2018: The nominees gather for a special private luncheon at the legendary Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center
JUNE 4TH, 2018: The recipients for this year’s Tony Honors For Excellence in the Theatre, the Creative Arts nominees, and more will be honored at a private reception at the Sofitel New York.
and last but not least….
JUNE 10TH, 2018: THE TIME IS NOW, THE DAY IS HERE!! The Tony Awards are here live once again from New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall. We’ll all be tuning in to the 3 hour ceremony at 8/7 Central on CBS . We’ll be watching the best of Broadway celebrating the end of the 2017-2018 season, see some of our favorites stars and creators take on the glory, and spectacular live performances from some of this year’s nominated shows (which we will soon found out who is taking center stage). The lineup of this year’s host, presenters, and performers will be announced at a later date.
