GOOD MORNING BROADWAY FANS! Broadway’s biggest night is almost here. 3 days till the 71st Annual Tony Awards and more powerhouse performances are heading your way on OUR TOP 30 TONY AWARDS COUNTDOWN.

At # 3 is another one of Broadway’s current longest running smash hit musicals. We all grew up with the iconic story of The Wizard of Oz but you know there are parts that are actually not scary. Know more about the famous witches of Oz before that house with a well known farm girl inside crashed. This is of course Stephen Schwartz’s Award winning smash hit WICKED The Musical. The show also features a book by Winnie Holzman. It’s based on a novel by Gregory macguire.

From the 2004 telecast, Tony winners Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in their breakout performances as “Glinda: The Good Witch of the North” and “Elphaba: The Wicked Witch of the West” along with members of the original Broadway cast perform the musical’s Act 1 finale and the show’s anthem DEFYING GRAVITY.

Following a Pre-Broadway run in San Francisco, WICKED opened on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre in 2003 (the day before Halloween). The show continues to play to packed houses 8 times a week. The show was nominated for the most 10 Tony Awards in 2004 winning only 3 including Best Leading Actress in a Musical (for Idina Menzel). That year’s Tony Awards was a big shock when Wicked lost the Best Musical award to Avenue Q (since they initially had the most nominations). It did however also went on to the win the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre album. Along with Broadway, WICKED continues to play to sold out houses across America, in London’s West End, and around the world.

Isn’t this musical spellbinding?
