ON THE MARQUEE: The wait is almost over Theater fans!!!! Even during this continued time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the work has not stopped with the continued renovations of the legendary Drama Book Shop at its new home on West 39th Street.

One of our friends took to the streets of NYC today to share with you the FIRST LOOK of the inside of the new store. The interior design was created by Hamilton scenic designer Tony nominee David Korins. You can see the shop's main centerpiece of a huge spiral structure of books, scripts, and sheet music combined….. all inspired by dramatic literature.

The Drama Book Shop has been around for over 100 years at its original home on West 40th Street. A few years ago, the store was dealing with financial troubles with the rent raised high and under threat to shut down forever. Petitions went on by the entire theater community of performers, technicians, musicians, and all of Broadway's biggest supporters. The shop was saved thanks to Theater producer James L. Nederlander with a little help from the creative team behind Hamilton themselves consisting of….

Tony winning director Thomas Kail
and
it's Award winning mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda.

For both Miranda and Kail, the Drama Book Shop was their special home for creating their debut smash hit In The Heights and all the NON-STOP jamming in creating their acclaimed hip hop group Freestyle Love Supreme.

Along with David Korin's huge spiral structure design and lineup of Books, Scripts, Sheet Music, and more for all Artists, the newly located shop will include a for the first time….a coffee shop along with a small basement Theater for readings and classes, and more.

The Drama Book Shop was set to open this past March 2020 however has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An announcement for an official Grand Re-Opening Day will be revealed at a later time.

Who is excited?!!!
