Broadway 101: Musical Theatre & 42nd Street Tour

Broadway 101 is designed for musical-theatre fans, first-time visitors, families, student groups, and anyone who wants to see New York’s most famous entertainment neighborhood through the eyes of a professional performer.
Your performer-guide will lead you past celebrated theatres, landmark marquees, and locations connected to generations of Broadway artists. Learn how 42nd Street evolved from an entertainment destination into the heart of American musical theatre, and hear stories about the productions, performers, traditions, and dramatic moments that shaped Broadway.
This is more than a traditional sightseeing tour. Guests are invited to participate in musical moments, theatre games, and fun Broadway challenges while exploring Times Square. You may find yourself singing a familiar show tune, testing your theatre knowledge, or learning a few steps worthy of a Broadway finale.
Along the route, you’ll discover the history behind the TKTS Booth, Broadway’s famous theatres, the New Year’s Eve celebration, and the people who bring the Theatre District to life.

LOCATION: Outside the Drama Book Shop. Feel free to arrive 15 minutes early to stroll around. Our guide will meet you outside but provide a quick tour before the start of the tour.
ENDING LOCATION: In Times Square at 46th Street and Broadway

Our professional licensed tour guides are gifted triple threats who weave groups around New York’s bustling streets, sharing their love of the stage and the city along half-mile routes that explore the origins of musical theatre and Broadway history. Each guide brings a tablet with photos and videos to enrich the experience.
Please note: We do not enter Equity theatres because of union restrictions. Your guide will still entertain you with backstage stories and personal experiences.
