Today is going to be an amazing day to wake up to. It's officially been confirmed that Ben Platt will officially be reprising his Tony Award winning performance of the title role in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen. The actor spoke with Tony and Emmy winner James Corden recently and revealed he will be part of the film. The movie itself will be shot in Georgia!!

For this new film, Ben will be joined by….
his fellow Broadway castmate Colton Ryan as "Connor Murphy",
Oscar nominee Amy Adams as "Cynthia Murphy",
Acclaimed actor and comedian Nik Dodani as "Jared Kleinman",
Acclaimed Actress and Singer Amandla Stenberg as "Alana Beck",
Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever as "Zoe Murphy",
and Danny Pino as "Larry " who will now be updated as stepfather of the Murphy family.
An additional rumor has also been made that Oscar winner Kate Winslet will star as struggling single-mother and Nurse "Heidi Hansen" (the role originated by its Tony winning star Rachel Bay Jones).
The film adaptation of DEAR EVAN HANSEN will be released from Universal Pictures, produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, and directed by Stephen Chbosky. It will feature the beloved songs from the musical plus some new ones as well by Pasek and Paul.
The stage version of DEAR EVAN HANSEN is expecting to be one of the many shows to return when Live Theater is back. It's expecting to continue to play at Broadway's Music Box Theatre, in London's West End at the Noel Coward Theatre, and on tour across America.
We cannot wait for this film.
