Acclaimed R&B recording artist Brandy (last seen playing "Roxie Hart" in the Long Running revival of Chicago The Musical) took to an interview asking one particular Question that's also been on all Musical Theater nerds minds….

Why is Disney's acclaimed 1997 TV Movie Musical remake of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella not on Disney+?!!!!

Petitions are already being made to Disney+ to include it in their roster. They've got all major TV Movie Musicals created for THE WONERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY (including 1999's Annie, 2003's The Music Man, and 2005's Once Upon A Mattress) except for this legendary iconic production.

In case anyone may not know, the 1997 version of CINDERELLA was only the 3rd version of the iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein version ever released (following the 1957 Julie Andrews version and the 1965 Lesley Ann Warren version). The story is iconic s we all know it…. Young girl is forced to work as a household serpent under the watchful eye of her jealous stepmother and stepsisters. One day, an announcement is made that The Prince is hosting a Royal Ball in search for a bride. However despite the stepmother and stepsisters cruelty, everything changes for the household serpent when a magical fairy godmother makes all her dreams come true. The Pumpkin turned Carriage. The Mice turned Horses. The Rags into a beautiful Ballgown. Of course, The Glass Slippers. Notable songs include IN MY OWN LITTLE CORNER, IMPOSSIBLE/IT'S POSSIBLE, TEN MINUTES AGO, DO I LOVE YOU BECAUSE YOUR BEAUTIFUL, and more. This 1997 version was also known for the use of songs from other Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals including THE SWEETEST SOUNDS (from No Strings), THERE'S MUSIC IN YOU, and even FALLING IN LOVE WITH LOVE (from The Boys from Syracuse) which is actually a Rodgers & Hart song.

Under the direction of Robert Iscove and choreographed by Rob Marshall, this cast was led by….

Brandy as "Cinderella",

Whitney Houston (who also produced the film) as "The Fairy Godmother",

Paolo Montalbán as "Prince Christopher",

Bernadette Peters as "The Wicked Stepmother",

Victor Garber as "King Maximillian",

Whoopi Goldberg as "Queen Constantina",

Natalie Desselle as Stepsister "Minerva" (yup, the one with a bad scratching habit),

Veanne Cox as Stepsister "Calliope" (yup, the one with the crazy laugh and snort habit),

and Jason Alexander in a newly created comic relief role as the Prince's valet and RIGHT HAND MAN himself "Lionel".

CINDERELLA premiered on ABC part of The Wonderful World of Disney on November 2nd, 1997. It was well received by critics before heading directly to VHS and DVD.

The film itself was also nominated for 7 Emmy Awards including OUTSTANDING VARIETY, MUSIC, OR COMEDY SPECIAL. It ended up winning only 1 for OUTSTANDING ART DIRECTION FOR A VARIETY OR MUSIC PROGRAM.
