BREAKING NEWS: The Theater community just lost a legendary talent of the stage and screen. We regret to share with all of you that we lost the acclaimed Tony Award winning performer and choreographer Ann Reinking. She died in her home of Seattle, WA at the age of 71. No official details were said on what caused it.

Ann Reinking was well known for her as one of the most celebrated dancers. With early beginnings at the English National Ballet, she made her way to New York with her ultimate mark part of the Broadway Theater scene appearing in shows including Fiddler on the Roof, the original production of Cabaret, Coco, and Pippin.

At the time of doing those first few shows, Reinking won the attention of legendary dancer & choreographer Bob Fosse becoming known as "Fosse's protégé" and romantic partner. Their relationship still happened even when Fosse was married at the time to Gwen Verdon.

Other notable shows include originating the role of "Maggie" in Over Here and "Joan of Arc" in Goodtime Charley (which she received her first Tony nomination). She also replaced Donna McKecknie becoming the first replacement "Cassie" in the original production of A Chorus Line.

When Reinking and Bob Fosse still had their romance, she succeeded Verdon as "Roxie Hart" in the original production of Chicago The Musical and appearing in his later musical "Dancin' (which she received her 2nd Tony nomination) before eventually splitting up.

After Fosse's passing, Reinking continued spreading his legacy around choreographing shows inspired his dance moves. Her notable works include the Tony winning tribute musical Fosse. Most notably, she choreographed, reprised, and originated the role of "Roxie Hart" in the legendary long running revival of Chicago (which she received her first Tony for BEST CHOREOGRAPHY). She helped develop the production from its New York City Center Encores engagement to Broadway!!

Along with her success on stage, Reinking had an incredible presence on screen appearing in various movie musicals including All That Jazz, Micki & Maude, and most notably played "Grace Farrell" in the 1982 film adaptation of Annie.

Our hearts are broken and devastated on loosing such an iconic RAZZLE DAZZLE talent. She will be missed.

RIP Ann Reinking.
