Broadway to celebrate legacy of Terrence McNally by bringing back Dimming The Lights tradition plus Tribute show next month

Broadway Theatres To Dim Lights In Memory Of Playwright Terrence McNally
BREAKING NEWS: With Broadway’s return all Fall long, it’s continuing to bring back many of our community’s ongoing traditions. One of the most notable is the dimming of all Theater marquees for 1 minute in tribute to those no longer with us. It will all be happening again starting November 3rd, 2021at 6:30pm. to honor the late 5 time-Tony Award winning legendary writer Terrence McNally on what would have been his 83rd Birthday.
Along with the dimming of the lights, the Broadway community will be putting together a special FREE one night only tribute show in honor of McNally’s legacy on Broadway. The program entitled A CELEBRATION OF LIFE is set for November 1st, 2021 at the Gerald Schonefeld Theatre (current home of Come From Away). It will feature readings, performances, and tributes honoring the immense impact McNally left here in the Big Apple. COVID-19 face masks and proof of vaccination will be required. Doors will open at 3:30pm.
For those who may not know, Terrence McNally passed away on March 24th, 2020 at the start of the pandemic due to COVID-19. He was 81. What an unforgettable legacy he has left on the Great Bright Way and the Theater community. Some of his iconic plays included…

Last night, one of the most beloved characters made the big jump from THE HUNDRED ACRE WOOD to the New York Stage. We are talking about Disney’s brand new Off Broadway stage musical adaptation of the classic tale of Winnie the Pooh. Created by Jonathon Rockefeller, it debuted last night at Theatre Row with an overwhelming response by the sold out audience.
Get ready to experience the timeless adventures of that beloved WILLY NILLY SILLY OL’ BEAR and his friends like never before. The show features life-size puppetry of the notable characters we all know and love from “Pooh”, “Christopher Robin”, “Eeyore”, “Kanga”, “Roo”, “Rabbit”, “Piglet”, “Owl”, and yes….. everyone’s favorite bouncing tiger himself “Tigger” too…. FIRST LOOK: One of the hottest tickets in the Musical Theater scene right now is happening overseas and now is planning make its way here to our New York city backyard. We are talking about Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s new contemporary musical adaptation of the classic tale of Cinderella. The show is currently playing to packed houses at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre.

Talks are also still being made for the show’s leading lady Carrie Hope Fletcher to possibly be part of the New York transfer. If it does happen, it will mark as Fletcher’s Broadway debut!!
