For all aspiring Musical Theatre actors, here’s a list of overused songs that you should avoid singing for casting directors in the audition room. Avoid anything WICKED The Musical, Les Miserables – Musical, Chess – The Musical, Rent, and especially Hamilton: An American Musical right now in the room.
Please Note: You are not Idina Menzel, Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth, Barbra Streisand, Aaron Tviet, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Groff, Matthew Morrison, Jeremy Jordan, or any of the big Broadway names out there. They are who they are. Go into the audition room with a song that’s rarely used and that is YOU!!!
Backstage
Actors, don’t make your audition “Les Mis” with the wrong song.
