Acclaimed actor and comedian Nik Dodani (Netflix's Atypical) will take on the role of sarcastic High School nerd "Jared Kleinman" (the role originated on stage by Will Roland)
and
Veteran DEAR EVAN HANSEN Broadway cast member Colton Ryan (who was appearing on the Great Bright Way prior before the current shutdown in Girl From The North Country) taking on one of the key central parts he previously understudied…..troubled teenager "Connor Murphy" (the role originated by Mike Faist).
It was also officially confirmed that Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever (TV's Unbelievable and the film's Bad Teacher and Booksmart) will take on the role of the love interest "Zoe Murphy" (the role originated on stage by Laura Dreyfuss).
Dodani, Ryan, and Dever will all join the previously announced acclaimed actress and singer Amandla Stenberg who will play High School brainiac "Alana Beck".
In addition, rumors are still being speculated that the musical's original star Ben Platt will reprise his Tony Award winning portrayal of the title character.
The film adaptation of DEAR EVAN HANSEN will be released from Universal Pictures, produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, and directed by Stephen Chbosky. It will feature the beloved songs from the musical plus some new ones as well by Pasek and Paul.
The stage version of DEAR EVAN HANSEN is expecting to be one of the many shows to return when Live Theater is back. It's expecting to continue to play at Broadway's Music Box Theatre, in London's West End at the Noel Coward Theatre, and on tour across America.

Deadline has reported that Colton Ryan and Nik Dodani have joined the cast Universal's film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen. Dodani will play Jared and Ryan will play Connor.
