FIRST LISTEN: As previously announced Lindsay Pearce will be FLYING HIGH as she makes her long awaited Broadway Debut this month as the newest Green Girl in WICKED The Musical. For the performer, she is no stranger to singing this iconic Stephen Schwartz score….

Over 10 years ago, Pearce appeared as one of the major finalists on Season 1 of the former casting reality show The Glee Project performing WICKED's anthem DEFYING GRAVITY during a last second elimination round. We have the performance right below so you can have a glimpse Pearce's powerhouse vocals that is expecting to wow the show's still constant sold out houses 8 times a week at the Gershwin Theatre. Her first night is set for February 25th, 2020.

For those who may not know of THE GLEE PROJECT, this reality show documents the audition proccess in landing a major 7-episode arc on the musical TV show Glee during its time on the air. The series centers on Top 12 contestants from around the world about they are put to the test with an intense Glee themed bootcamp. The bootcamp is set in the exact style of the show on screen and how every episode of Glee is made. You see them learning assigned songs, recording the music, dance rehearsals, and eventually making a music video set like an actual Musical number from the actual show Glee. All contestants were judged by Glee's creator Ryan Murphy and casting director Robert Ullrich. They were also mentored by Glee cast members such as fellow Broadway favorites Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Tony winner Idina Menzel (WICKED's OG Broadway "Elphaba" herself). From there, those who stood out continue on to the next episode and the same routine is done again (as their callback). In addition, the top 3 contestants that had the weakest performance in the Music Videos are given a Last Chance performance (this is when Lindsay sang DEFYING GRAVITY) where at the end… one of them gets eliminated.

Pearce ended in 3rd place but ended up getting a 2 episode arc during Season 3 as The Unitards lead singer, NYADA wannabe, and fellow rival of "Rachel Berry" herself "Harmony". Other notable contestants from The Glee Project that ended up on Broadway in recent years included….

Alex Newell (recently in his Broadway debut in the Tony winning revival of Once On This Island Broadway) whose 2 episode arc as transgender "Unique" (a.k.a. "New Mercedes") went on be extended and a showstopper on the series,

and

Ali Stroker (Broadway's Deaf West Theatre revival of Spring Awakening Broadway and last seen in the Tony revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA! where she made history with both shows as the first actress in a wheelchair to both be on Broadway and to win a Tony Award) went on to appear in 1 episode as bitchy wheelchair girl "Betty Pillsbury".

Who is excited for Lindsay as Broadway's next Green Girl?
