At # 7, we take you to visit a local dysfunctional family that runs a funeral home. The daughter with a secret shares her love for art and drawing she grows up to become one of the most acclaimed graphic novel artists of them all. This is Fun Home The Musical. Based on Allison Bechdel?s autobiographical graphic novel, it features a score and book written by Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron.
From the 2015 telecast, Tony winner Michael Ceveris as “Bruce Bechdel” along with Tony nominees Beth Malone as “Adult Allison Bechdel” and Sydney Lucas as the “Small Allison Bechdel” perform the showstopper RING OF KEYS. The performance went viral on YouTube and got a lot of attention especially people praising Lucas’ performance.
FUN HOME was first conceived originally in 2006 (around the same year Bechdel’s novel was released) by Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron. The show had its first workshop at the Ojai Playwrights Conference in 2009 before continued to have numerous additional readings in workshops including a the first industrial reading in 2011 at The Public Theater in NYC and then the following year of 2012 at the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab in White Oak, NY.
The show had its official world premiere Off Broadway at The Public Theater in the Fall 2013 earning rave reviews and received multiple extensions till the beginning of 2014. The show was then transferred to Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre a few months later running for a total of 608 performances. The cast featured….

FUN HOME was nominated for 12 Tony Awards in 2015 winning 5 including Best Musical. In addition the show’s composer/lyricist Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron made history as the first ever female duo writing team to win for Best Original Score.
Following the success of its Broadway run, FUN HOME recently wrapped a full year and a half National Tour all across America.
The show will be continuing to live on with productions everywhere.
