FIRST LISTEN: One of the most highly anticipated new shows that was just starting before this horrific virus hit was Diana: A New Musical. When COVID hit, the production ran only a week and a half of previews at Broadway's Longacre Theatre. It was abruptly shutdown along with all of Broadway & Live Theater on March 12th, 2020.

A year ago in preparing for its Broadway debuts, fans got an early royal sneak peak of DIANA with a brand new music video. Filmed on a rooftop featuring the Manhattan skyline and accompanied by the show's composer Tony winner David Bryan (yup, the famous keyboard player of Bon Jovi), here is the show's leading lady Broadway & West End star Jeanna de Waal performing the musical's big powerhouse number IF.

The music video for IF was also featured last night on the ONE NIGHT ONLY: THE BEST OF BROADWAY variety special on NBC. In case you missed it, we still have the video below.

In case anyone may not be familiar or remember what DIANA is all about, it centers on the life of "Diana, Princess of Wales". It follows her journey from Kindergarten Teacher, marrying "Charles, Prince of Wales", and their scandalous divorce. The musical reunites the creative masterminds by the Tony winning smash hits Memphis and Come From Away. It features an original score and book by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan. Under the direction of Christopher Ashley, the cast is led by…

Waal in the titular role of "Princess Diana",

Roe Hartrampf in his Broadway Debut as "Prince Charles",

Broadway favorite Erin Davie as "Camilla Parker Bowles",

2 time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye as "Queen Elizabeth",

and more.

The show originally had its world premiere in 2019 at La Jolla Playhouse before going through another full year of early development labs in gearing the show for Broadway.

The show was expecting to resume Broadway previews earlier this Spring 2021 before having its official Opening Night on May 25th, 2021 at the Longacre Theatre. However, it has been postponed till further notice (due to Broadway still shutdown till May 30th, 2021). A new royal restart date will be announced soon.

Prior before its Broadway return, the show will also be coming to Netflix in 2021. Earlier this past Summer with an Equity approved safety plan, the cast & creative team were able to reunite with rehearsing the show, recording the upcoming original Broadway cast album, and film the show in its entirety on the stage of the Longacre Theatre without a live audience. An announcement for the release will be revealed soon.

We all cannot wait for this new Royal show to rule Broadway in 2021!!!

How powerful was that performance?

Who is excited?!!!
