BLESS MY SOUL!!! The strong Greek hero that PUT THE GLAD IN GLADIATOR is in the works of training his way to Broadway!!!! According to EGOT winner Alan Menken, he is hard at work on the 2nd iteration of the stage adaptation of Disney's Oscar nominated Animated film Hercules with plans to have him officially light up THE GREAT BRIGHT WAY in the near future when Live Theater returns.

For the new updated version, it will feature direction by Lear deBessonet, a book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), and of course a score by Menken and David Zippel. Set in Ancient Greece, the story tells the Greek Mythology legend of the son of Zeus and Hera who grows up to become the strongest hero around. You can expect to hear all the beloved songs from the Animated film including ONE LAST HOPE, ZERO TO HERO, I WON'T SAY I'M IN LOVE, and of course the Oscar nominated anthem GO THE DISTANCE. You'll also hear some brand new songs written by Menken and Zippel for the show.

The stage adaptation of HERCULES has been in development since 2017. It officially had its world premiere last summer with a free week engagement in Central Park's outdoor Delacorte Theatre (part of The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park series). It was sold out, earning rave reviews, and clips of scenes from the show have gone viral. Under the direction of Lear DeBessonet, the cast was led by….

Jelani Alladin in the heroic title role,

Krysta Rodriguez as the sassy and feisty damsel in distress "Megara" (HER FRIENDS CALL HER "MEG"),

Tony winner Roger Bart (yup, the original singing voice of "Hercules" from the 1997 Animated film) taking on the role of the wicked "Hades",

Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart as the no-nonsense trainer to the heroes himself "Philoctetes" (HIS FRIENDS CALL HIM PHIL),

Jeff Hiller as evil sidekick "Panic",

Ramona Keller, Tamika Lawrence, and Rema Webb as the musical Greek narrators themselves "The Muses",

and a full Ensemble of over 200 performers (which featured members from the Broadway Inspirational Voices, The Public Theater's Public Works program, and the Passaic High School Marching Band).

No official date, Theater, or cast has been announced yet for HERCULES' Broadway debut.

Who is excited?!!!
