There's some drama going on AT THE OLD BALLGAME. Later on in this all new 2019-2020 season, Second Stage Theater will present a brand new On Broadway revival of Richard Greenberg's 2003 Tony Award winning Best Play TAKE ME OUT. The production will star Grey's Anatomy favorite Jesse Williams and Stage and Screen favorite Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Under the direction of Tony winner Scott Ellis, the production will play Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre this Spring 2020. Previews will begin April 2nd, 2020 and Opening Night scheduled for April 23rd, 2020.

TAKE ME OUT is drama that takes a full dark behind the scenes look at the personal and professional intricacies of one of America's favorite sports…. Baseball. It centers on the star player of the Empires team who comes out of the closet and the way it effects the entire team. It deals with situations including homophobia, racism, class, and masculinity in spots. It's loosely inspired by

The show originally started in London at the Donmar Warehouse back in 2002. It was a huge smash, the show then made its way across the pond to our New York backyard playing The Public Theater OFF Broadway. It then moved ON Broadway the following year in 2003 playing the Walter Kerr Theatre for 28 previews and 355 regular performances.

TAKE ME OUT was nominated for 4 Tony Awards in 2003 winning 3 for BEST PLAY, BEST FEATURED ACTOR IN A PLAY (for Dennis O'Hare), and BEST DIRECTION OF A PLAY (for Joe Mantello).
