OMG BROADWAY FANS!!! It?s getting closer!! We are just 10 days away till the 72nd Annual Tony Awards. As we continue to wake you up with our TOP 40 TONY AWARDS COUNTDOWN playing you the best performances past and present on the Great White Way, this is the most exciting moment. Right now, we are at the TOP 10 portion. Are you ready for another show stopping performance?

At # 10 on the countdown is one of Broadway?s still going strong long running hits. Inspired by a true story, this musical tells the tale of a British shoe factory in trouble. However everything changes when the owner?s son teams up with a drag queen to sell unique high heeled shoes. This is of course Kinky Boots on Broadway. Based on the 2005 British film of the same name, the show features a score by Grammy winner Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein.

From the 2013 telecast, Tony nominee Stark Sands as ?Charlie?, Tony winners Billy Porter as ?Lola? and Annaleigh Ashford as ?Lauren?, along with the entire original Broadway cast perform the toe tapping Act 1 finale which requires you to do one thing?. EVERYBODY SAY YEAH!!!

Kinky Boots The Musical was first conceived by Tony winning Broadway producer Daryl Roth. She first saw the original 2005 film before sharing it with producer Hal Luftig which they both fell in love with the ?heart and soul? of the story. Within a year, the rights were secured to adapt the film into a stage musical. Roth and Luftig teamed up with Tony winning director Jerry Mitchell and Tony winning book writer and actor Harvey Fierstein. For creating the score, Mitchell knew of the perfect person that Fierstein was longtime friends with?. Acclaimed Grammy winning singing sensation Cyndi Lauper (which it marked as her debut as a Musical Theater songwriter). From there, the show began a full 2 ? year journey of numerous readings and workshops.

Following a successful out of town tryout in Chicago in 2012, KINKY BOOTS officially arrived at Broadway?s Al Hirschfeld Theatre the following year of 2013. The cast consisted of?

Tony nominee Stark Sands (later Andy Kelso, Aaron C. Finley, Killian Donnelly, Brendon Urie, Jake Shears, David Cook, and Tyler Glenn) as ?Charlie?,

Tony winner Billy Porter (later Wayne Brady, Kyle Taylor Parker, Alan Mingo Jr, and J Harrison Ghee) as ?Lola?,

Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (later Jeanna de Waal, Haven Burton, Tony nominee this year Taylor Louderman, DeLaney Westfall, Kirstin Maldonado, and Carrie St. Louis) as ?Lauren?

and Tony winner Lena Hall (Cortney Wolfson, Shannon O’Boyle, and Caroline Bowman) as ?Nicola?.

The show continues to play 8 times a week at Broadway?s Al Hirschfeld Theatre, in London?s West End, and around the world. It’s been playing over 2,000 performances ever since continuing to still out and receive standing ovations night after night. Of course with a long running show, the show continues to have incredible numerous replacement actors taking on these beloved roles.

KINKY BOOTS was nominated for 13 Tony Awards in 2013 winning 6 including Best Musical. It also won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre album, the Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, and many more awards.

Doesn?t this show make you want to jump and say YEAH?!!!!
