BREAKING NEWS: THE MAN IN THE MIRROR will have to wait a little longer for THRILLER NIGHTS to begin. It has just been announced that due to the BAD COVID-19 pandemic hitting WAVE 2 & the recent news of Broadway extending its shutdown even longer, the upcoming MJ: the musical (about the rise, fame, and fall of Michael Jackson) has once again delayed the start of its Broadway run.
Instead of it's initial Summer 2020 and then later turned Spring 2021 debut, MJ will now MOONWALK into Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre beginning September 2021. A newly rescheduled start time for Broadway previews and the official Opening Night will be announced soon.
If anyone purchased a ticket already for MJ, you will be refunded by the point of purchase. Anyone who previously purchased tickets to MJ will be notified via email about pre-sale priority access to purchase tickets for the new dates.
Under the direction and choreographer of Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon, MJ is still expecting to star Tony Award nominee Ephraim M. Sykes (Broadway's original casts of Ain't Too Proud and Hamilton, TV's Hairspray Live) in the titular role of the KING OF POP himself.
In addition, the cast is still expecting to feature….
Whitney Bashor (Broadway's The Bridges of Madison County),
Gabriel Ruiz (Off Broadway's Blood and Gifts),
Joey Sorge (Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Drowsy Chaperone, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and last seen in A Bronx Tale),
and a full Ensemble.
Who is excited for MJ continuing?
Lia Vollack Productions and The Michael Jackson Estate announced today that, due to the Broadway shutdown, dates have been rescheduled for the upcoming World Premiere of MJ the new musical on Broadway.
