RENT THROWBACKS: We are only just 11 hours away from the long awaited live TV musical event of the year…. Rent Live. Throughout the course of the day, we at New York Broadway Tours are sharing some of our favorite throwback moments from the musical's incredible legacy.
Check one of the many commercials that aired on television which promoted the show talking the generation leading up to RENT. In addition, this commercial (featuring footage of the original cast) told the viewers that tickets are affordable to see it live on Broadway.
FUN FACT: When RENT became a huge word of mouth in 1996, it was impossible to get a ticket. Following being extended, the producers came up with a deal to make it very affordable for everyone to see it. Most importantly, the show became well known to incorporate the Lottery Rush Policy which is still popular today…. The lottery would be for $20 tickets in the first 2 rows of the Orchestra.
