Dear Theater Fans,

Today is going to be an amazing day because its the night of the Tony Awards celebrating Broadway’s biggest night.

However, it’s also a little bit bittersweet because the Broadway company of the Tony and Grammy winning smash hit Dear Evan Hansen looses its original scene stealer Will Roland as he takes his final bow this afternoon.

The actor who created the role of the wisecracking high school nerd “Jared Kleinman” has been with the Pasek and Paul musical since the very beginning of it’s early workshops. He was part of the show’s world premiere in Washington DC at Arena Stage back in 2015 and the Off Broadway run at Second Stage Theater back in 2016 before officially bringing the show to Broadway in 2017 earning him rave reviews and a huge fan base.

Beginning this Tuesday night, June 12th, 2018 at the Music Box Theatre, Sky Lakota-Lynch takes over the role of “Jared Kleinman”.

With Will Roland leaving, it marks 4 of the original Broadway cast of Dear Evan Hansen gone.

Speaking of Will, he’s not going anywhere on the New York stage because he has an exciting gig coming up this Summer. You will be able to see him as gears up for the Off Broadway premiere of Joe Iconis’s rock musical Be More Chill. That show will begin previews on July 26th, 2018. Opening Night will be August 9th, 2018, and will run through September 23rd, 2018 at The Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Theatre Center.

Happy Trails and Break a leg on your new adventure Will!

See The Cast Of Dear Evan Hansen Perform “Waving Through A Window”

HEY THERE BROADWAY FANS! We are officially 2 days away from the 72nd Annual Tony Awards. We have been so happy to keep you entertained as we lead up to Broadway?s biggest night on OUR TOP 40 TONY AWARDS COUNTDOWN. We have another powerhouse performance coming your way.

At # 2 on our countdown is one of the most powerful groundbreaking musicals ever to have hit Broadway. It follows the dark tale of a young High School outcast who finds himself in the center of something that was not to be seen by the Public and a lie that was never meant to be told. This is of course? Dear Evan Hansen. The show features a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul along with a book by Steven Levenson.

From last year?s telecast, the show?s Tony winning original star Ben Platt in the titular role of ?Evan Hansen? and the entire original Broadway cast perform musical?s theme song WAVING THROUGH A WINDOW.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN was originally inspired by a real incident from Benj Pasek years in High School where a troubled teenager was found dead due to drug problems and all of a sudden, he had more mourners in death than friends in real life. The incident always came back to Pasek, he along with his collaborator Justin Paul began to create a full musical inspired by that tragic event. They decided to tell the story following an outcast with social anxiety and mental illness be in the center of it all. The show was then passed on to director Michael Grief who fell in love. From there, the show went through many years of readings and workshops.

The show originally premiered in 2015 Arena Stage in Washington D.C. before making its way Off Broadway playing Second Stage Theater in the Spring of 2016. The response of the Off Broadway run was well received by critics and audiences, the show was then transferred to Broadway?s Music Box Theatre before becoming one of Broadway?s most popular hottest tickets. The show continues to sell out every night on Broadway. The cast consisted of?

Tony winner Ben Platt (later Noah Galvin and Taylor Trensch) as ?Evan Hansen?,

Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones as ?Heidi Hansen?,

Laura Dreyfuss as ?Zoe Murphy?,

Tony nominee Mike Faist (later Alex Boniello) as ?Connor Murphy?,

Will Roland (soon to be Sky Lakota-Lynch) as ?Jared Kleinman?,

Kristolyn Lloyd (later Phoenix Best) as ?Alana Beck?,

Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson as ?Cynthia Murphy?,

and Michael Parks as ?Larry Murphy?.

The show was nominated for 9 Tony Awards last year in 2017 winning 6 including Best Musical, Best Score (for Pasek and Paul), and Best Leading Actor in a Musical (for Ben Platt).

Along with Broadway, DEAR EVAN HANSEN is set to embark on a US National Tour this Fall 2018 followed by a Canadian sit-down production in 2019.

Doesn?t this show make you really care for the underdogs who feel like they don?t have a voice?
