Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Abuela Mundi Passes Away Over Christmas
BREAKING NEWS: Tony, Grammy, Drama Desk, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda lost his beloved Abuela Mundi on Christmas day.
Abuela Mundi was actually not his real Grandmother but was his father Luis Miranda’s nanny in Puerto Rico who also joined the family and help care for the Hamilton: An American Musical creator and original star, his father, and and his sister in New York City. In addition, Mundi was the inspiration for one of the central character’s from Miranda’s debut breakout musical In The Heights, “Abuela Claudia” (originated on stage by Olga Merediz).
RIP Abuela Mundi and stay strong Lin. Alabanza.
