BREAKING NEWS: You're invited to the ultimate party in the comfort of your own homes. It has just been announced that Netflix will officially release the highly anticipated filmed adaptation of The Boys in the Band (based on the recent Tony winning revival) next month. Under the direction of Tony winner Joe Mantello and produced by Ryan Murphy, it will be available for streaming starting September 30th, 2020.

In case anyone doesn't know or may not remember, THE BOYS IN THE BAND is a play written in 1968 by Mart Crowley. It tells the story of a group of gay men that gather for a birthday party in New York City. Along the way, the cracks beneath their friendships begin to show, bringing to light self-inflicted heartache and identity crises. The play itself was considered a groundbreaking smash hit in its portrayal of gay life…. both unapologetically and without judgment. Overall, it was one of the first major plays that presented a story centered on homosexuals.

The play originally premiered Off Broadway in 1968 at Theater Four where it ran for 1,004 performances. Under the direction of Robert Moore, the original cast was led by….
