BREAKING NEWS: Live Theater is expecting to present some exciting new original works when it returns in 2021. Get ready for an unforgettable evening UNDER THE BOARDWALK as the new musical The Drifters Girl is officially set to make its World Premiere in the UK and London's West End next year.
The show tells the true story of Faye Treadwell, the first major female African-American music manager. It followers her unforgettable story of her career alongside her husband who fought for three decades to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group The Drifters into a global sensation. Notable songs will include SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME, KISSIN' IN THE BACK ROW OF THE MOVIES, STAND BY ME, COME ON OVER TO MY PLACE, and more.
Under the direction of Jonathan Church, the cast will be led by acclaimed Queen of British Soul recording artist and West End star Beverley Knight (West End's The Bodyguard, Memphis, and the recent revival of Cats) as "Faye Treadwell".
The production was originally scheduled to debut in the Fall of 2020. However, due to the continued events of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will now debut in 2021. It will launch a world premiere pre-West End tryout in Newcastle at the Newcastle Theatre Royal beginning October 9th, 2021. From there, it officially head to the West End playing London's Garrick Theatre for a 20 week engagement. Preview performances will begin on November 4th, 2021 and the official Opening Night set for November 25th, 2021.
