BREAKING NEWS: Live Theater is on the road to a comeback overseas. We are so excited to announce that the Award winning smash hit madcap comedy The Play That Goes Wrong will officially be returning to it's inaugural home in London's West End this Fall. It's scheduled to resume its evening of chaotic Theater mishaps beginning November 19th, 2020 at the Duchess Theatre.

Just like many of the scheduled returning West End shows and Live Theater, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG will be continuing to do constant safety precautions due to this continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic. All workers in the Theater, and their fellow Theatergoers will be going through constant temperature checks. The Duchesss Theatre will be stalling more Hand Sanitizers. Most important, everyone will STILL be required to social distant and wear their face masks. For social distancing, seats will be removed to also give patrons more legroom (yup, you know how tight it gets being in a row at a Live Performance). In addition before and after every performance, all the Theaters will undergo extended constant deep-cleanings.

In case anyone may not know or have forgotten, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG was created by the UK based Mischief Theatre Company and it's longtime members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. The story is a madcap Play-Within-A-Play comedy centering on The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they put on an old fashion 1920's murder mystery. However, the performance is beset with disasters, mishaps, and the accident prone company struggle through every scene.

It originally premiered in 2012 as a fringe production held at the Old Red Lion Theatre in London before later transferring to Trafalgar Studios the following year. It was well received before embarking on a UK Tour in the beginning of 2014. It officially moved to London's West End playing the Duchess Theatre in the Fall of that same year where it's continued to play to sold out, laugh-out-loud, and standing ovation houses for the past 6 years. Under the direction of Mark Bell, the original cast was led by….

Henry Shields as "Chris",
Dave Hearn as "Max",
Rob Falconer as "Trevor",
Henry Lewis as "Robert",
Charlie Russell as "Sandra",
Jonathan Sayer as "Dennis",
Greg Tannahill as "Jonathan",
and
Nancy Zamit as "Annie".

The production has continued to have numerous and various replacements in the West End. It's current London cast is led by…..

Ross Green as "Chris",
Milo Clarke as "Max",
Blayar Benn as "Trevor",
David Kirkbride as "Robert",
Ellie Morris as "Sandra",
Michael Keane as "Dennis",
Elan James as "Jonathan",
and
Ciara Morris as "Annie".

The original and inaugural West End production was nominated and won its only category at the Olivier Awards for BEST NEW COMEDY in 2015.

With the success of the West End production, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG has gone on to become an International smash hit with productions around the world including our New York City backyard since 2017.

The New York company started out ON Broadway in 2017 playing the Lyceum Theatre for 27 previews and 745 regular performances led by the original London cast reprising their roles on the New York stage.

The Broadway production was nominated and won its only category at the Tony Awards for BEST SCENIC DESIGN OF A PLAY,

In 2018, the New York company transferred to its current home OFF Broadway at New World Stages where it was continuing to play to packed non-stop laughing audiences every night before this COVID-19 pandemic started. The New York production is expecting to be one of the many shows returning when Broadway reopens its doors in 2021.

Other companies included a US National Tour, an Australian company, and a UK Tour.

In addition to its success on stage, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG has also been well received on British Comedy TV. The creative team have put together 2 BBC TV special editions including a comedic mishap retellings of Peter Pan and A Christmas Carol. They've also created the GOES WRONG SHOW featuring a set of various mini plays that deal with the same idea as the actual show…. disastrous mishaps.
