Today is a very bittersweet day here on the Great White Way as we say goodbye to 4 incredible shows as they all take their final bows on Broadway.

The first show is one of the most fun, feel-good, and high energy contemporary rock musical comedies that officially kicked off the start of the 2018-2019 Broadway season…. Head Over Heels – The New Musical. The show (based on Sir Philip Sidney's The Arcadia and featuring the greatest hits of The Go-Go's) will rock out of Broadway's Hudson Theatre with a bang following 37 previews and 188 regular performances. However THE BEAT of HEAD OVER HEELS will live on as Broadway Licensing has officially secured the rights for the musical to be performed in schools, community, and regional theaters near you. No word though has been announced if the show will also be embarking on a National Tour.

The second show closing is the show-stopping Award winning The Play That Goes Wrong. The play-within-a-play comedy (following the company of a murder mystery theater troupe experiencing a performance from hell) closes at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre following 27 previews and 745 regular performances. However, the show is not officially leaving the Big Apple just yet?. THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG will be moving into an Off Broadway house. Beginning February 11th, 2019, the show will resume performances of its New York run at New World Stages.

The third show set to close today is the acclaimed Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein's Award winning debut play Torch Song on Broadway (starring Michael Urie). It wraps up its limited engagement a little early at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre following 26 previews and 77 regular performances. With the play?s original 1982 run on Broadway (which also played the Helen Hayes Theatre) consisting of 1,230 performances, TORCH SONG will have played a complete total of 1,333 performances on the Great White Way. Up next for the revival will be a National Tour beginning this Fall 2019 with Michael Urie reprising his performance.

Last but not least, we say goodbye to the 2018 Tony winning Best Musical Revival of Once On This Island Broadway. The show ends its incredible year and a half long run at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre following a complete total of 29 previews and 458 regular performances. With the musical's original 1990 production that played Broadway's Booth Theatre for 19 previews and 469 performances, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND will have played a complete total of 975 performances on the Great White Way!!! With the revival's final bow, THE STORY continues for Michael Arden's intimate production of Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty's debut smash hit as it is scheduled to embark on a National Tour beginning this Fall 2019. In addition, the show continues to be performed in schools, community, and regional theaters everywhere.

Every single one of these shows left a huge mark to the New York Theatre scene with a message. You've showed us that anything can happen in a live performance, WE GOT THE BEAT and most importantly LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE. And THIS IS WHY WE TELL THE STORY!!! Congrats to the entire cast, crew, musicians, and creative teams on all shows closing today on an incredible Broadway run. HAPPY TRAILS TO ALL OF YOU!!

Which shows you are most sad to see leave Broadway?
