RENT THROWBACK: Throughout RENT's amazing 12 years on Broadway, hundreds of actors have made their Broadway debuts which put many of their careers on the map. In addition, there were several acclaimed Award winning recording artists who went on to take on these beloved roles for limited stints.
One of the first major Pop stars to have ever stepped into Jonathan Larson's Award winning pop and rock musical smash hit was Joey Fatone. The former member of *NSYNC (who later went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars and hosting numerous singing competitions and cooking shows) joined the cast in 2002 as "Mark Cohen". When the announcement was made about Fatone joining, many super RENTheads were very unsure if he could pull it off. However on Opening Night, Fatone earned a standing ovation but his super loved fans from NSYNC and earned the love and appreciation from the RENTheads.
Check out Fatone along with Broadway, Film, and TV favorite Sebastian Arcelus singing RENT's 11:00 showstopper WHAT YOU OWN. This was filmed outside the Nederlander Theatre for a pre-tapped performance that aired on the CBS edition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
