James Monroe Iglehart Lays Down His Lamp at Broadway’s Aladdin

HE’S FREE!!! Today is a bittersweet day as Aladdin – The Musical’s Tony winning showstopper James Monroe Iglehart will POOF out of the magic lamp granting 3 final wishes for the last time today in the Broadway production.

Starting this Tuesday, February 22nd, 2017, Major Attaway will take over duties as the showstopping “Genie of the Lamp” after serving for a year as Iglehart’s standby.

For Iglehart, his schedule is NON-STOP as he gets ready to join the Broadway production of the Award winning smash hit Hamilton: An American Musical taking on the dual roles of “Marquis de Lafayette” and “Thomas Jefferson”.

Happy Trails James! WE AIN’T NEVER HAD A FRIEND LIKE YOU BEFORE and thank you for always making us smile. Cannot wait to see you go from granting wishes to being a part of THE REVOLUTION.

Break a leg to Major who is graduating from standby to fulltime “Genie”. We know you will be fantastic and take great care of the role making it your own.

If anyone has caught the filmed performance of Disney’s Newsies in the Movie Theaters…

If anyone has caught the filmed performance of Disney’s Newsies in the Movie Theaters recently (or even saw the musical live on stage) and wish you could dance like a Newsie, here’s your chance to learn some of that incredible Tony winning choreography….

During the show’s run on Broadway, Disney Theatrical Productions teamed up with former First Lady Michelle Obama to launch the GET UP AND GO fitness and wellness program helping people learn to live healthy and be active. As we all know for many aspiring performers out there that want to be on Broadway, you have to learn and be in top physical shape.

In the following video part of the GET UP AND GO campaign, the show’s Tony winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli along with members of the cast did a tutorial video teaching all the FANSIES at home the “newspaper dance” from the show’s Act 1 showstopper and the musical’s anthem SEIZE THE DAY.

Who dreams of one day being on Broadway?!!! All what we can say at New York Broadway Tours to those who do dream of being up there, believe in your dreams, don’t give up, and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!

Learn the Broadway choreography of ‘Seize the Day’ from the hit musical NEWSIES, taught by choreographer Christopher Gattelli. This inaugural video will feat…

Broadway favorite Sierra Boggess Official will be spending most of 2017 touring acros…

Broadway favorite Sierra Boggess Official will be spending most of 2017 touring across the world doing her inspirational themed concerts. During a recent show in Princeton, NJ with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, she performed THINK OF ME (her first big song in The Phantom of the Opera) entirely in French.

Boggess was initially supposed to reprise her performance of “Christine Daae” in French for the Paris production of PHANTOM last year but was postponed due to a horrific fire in the Théâtre Mogador (where the production was supposed to be performed).

How beautiful does Sierra sound singing in French?! Our Angel!!!!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: We have previously seen a 30 second commercial the Theater World di…

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: We have previously seen a 30 second commercial the Theater World did for the Post 9/11 I LOVE NEW YORK campaign. We just found the full length recording of the Broadway community coming together with their take on John Kander & Fred Ebb’s NEW YORK, NEW YORK.

During the time of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Broadway community was affected and all shows that were running at the time got shut down. However a few weeks afterwards, former Mayor Rudolph gulliani and the Broadway community realized that Live Theatre is supposed to make people entertained and feel happy.

From there, Broadway veterans (including Bernadette Peters, Joel Grey, Bebe Neuwirth, Harvey Fierstein, Elaine Stritch, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Patti LuPone, The Real Brooke Shields, and more) and costumed characters from Broadway shows running at the time (including The Producers, The Lion King – Musical, the original production of Les Misérables Broadway, Aida – The Musical, Cabaret the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Rent, Contact, 42nd Street, The Music Man, The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago The Musical, Urinetown, and more) all came together to the deserted Times Square to perform their rendition of Kander and Ebb’s NEW YORK, NEW YORK for a special I LOVE NEW YORK commercial to let tourists and people who were grieving and feeling afraid at the time to still come to the Big Apple and experience a Broadway show to throw their troubles away. Tourists agreed.

How amazing does the actual full rendition sound?

Before she becomes Broadway royalty in 5 weeks, Anastasia The Musical’s leading lady …

Before she becomes Broadway royalty in 5 weeks, Anastasia The Musical’s leading lady Christy Altomare returned to her Alma Matter of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music – CCM (where also ANASTASIA’s composer Stephen Flaherty went) to participate in an annual fundraising event last month called the MOVEABLE FEAST (which was basically like a showcase of the college’s arts program).

At the event, Altomare appeared as the guest vocalist accompanied by CCM’s Philharmonia Orchestra with a sneak preview performance of ANASTASIA’s Act 1 finale, showstopper, and the Oscar nominated JOURNEY TO THE PAST.

The performance was captured as a music video.

ANASTASIA will be coming to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre. Previews will begin March 23rd, 2017 and will officially open on April 24th, 2017.

How amazing does Christy sound and who is excited for ANASTASIA to finally open in 5 weeks?
